randgallery.com“Brave New World” is a dystopian novel written by Aldous Huxley and published in 1932. The story is set in a futuristic society where individuals are genetically engineered and conditioned to conform to the rules and values of their class, and where pleasure-seeking and consumption are the primary goals of life.
Description
The novel centers around the character of Bernard Marx, an Alpha-Plus who feels out of place in the rigidly controlled society, and his encounters with John the Savage, a man raised outside of the “civilized” world.
Through its portrayal of a highly organized and controlled society, “Brave New World” raises questions about the nature of individual freedom, the role of technology in society, and the pursuit of happiness. It is often compared to other dystopian classics such as George Orwell’s “1984” and Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451.” The novel continues to be widely read and studied today for its commentary on the dangers of sacrificing individuality and humanity in pursuit of stability and order.
