Can I edit my book after it’s published?
No. Once your book is published it is permanent. It can never be removed or changed, not by Book.io, and not by you, so review everything carefully before you finish. That permanence is part of the promise to your readers: the book they buy stays exactly as you published it.
Can I publish public domain works?
Yes. We accept public domain works. During submission you simply declare whether your book is a public domain work or an original work you hold the publishing rights to.
My book is not in English. What language should I use?
Use the book’s native language. If your book is in French, Spanish, or any other language, write the title, subtitle, and descriptions in that language and we will publish it that way. A note like “Original French version” in the subtitle helps English-speaking browsers know what they are looking at. Set the language field accurately during submission so readers can find your book.
Can I give my book away for free or sell gift cards?
Yes. Redemption codes are the easiest way to distribute your book for free. You prepay for copies and send a code to anyone; the recipient pays nothing and redeems it with just an email address. Use them for giveaways, review copies, launch promotions, or to make your own gift cards. You choose how many redemption codes to create when you publish, and they’re sent to you once your book is ready.
Redemption codes can also make your book fully private. If you allocate every copy to redemption codes, your book will not be listed for sale on Book.io and no public sales page is created. It reaches only the people you send codes to, which makes this a natural fit for friends-and-family sharing, private editions, and projects where privacy matters.
Does Book.io use the blockchain?
Yes. Blockchain technology is part of Book.io’s underlying infrastructure. It’s how we keep the promises that matter to you and your readers. It’s what makes each copy of your book something a reader genuinely owns, keeps, and can resell, and it’s what makes publishing permanent: once your book is published, no one can alter or remove it, not Book.io, and not the author. It all works behind the scenes; publishing and buying feel like any modern website.
Can I do multiple covers?
Not right now. Multiple covers come from the collectible side of Book.io. The Self-Publishing Portal is currently focused on eBook and Audiobook readers, so each book publishes with a single cover.
