Nosferatu is a haunting reimagining of the 1922 silent German masterpiece, retold through vivid prose and accompanied by an original musical score. Blending gothic horror with lyrical storytelling, the tale follows Thomas Hutter’s fateful journey to Count Orlok’s castle, Ellen’s prophetic visions, and the plague that descends upon Wisborg. Both novel and music breathe new life into one of cinema’s earliest nightmares, preserving its eerie spirit while giving it voice and song.

      Description

Nosferatu is a reimagining of F. W. Murnau’s 1922 silent German expressionist film, translated into prose and music that together capture the timeless terror of this cinematic landmark. Told as a twelve-chapter gothic novel, the story follows Thomas Hutter, a young clerk sent deep into the Carpathian mountains to close a deal with the mysterious Count Orlok. What begins as a curious journey soon dissolves into horror, as Hutter discovers that his host is no ordinary nobleman, but a creature of the night—a Nosferatu who hungers for blood and seeks to bring death across the sea to the town of Wisborg.

Meanwhile, Ellen, Hutter’s devoted wife, experiences prophetic visions that connect her to Orlok across the void, ultimately calling her to a terrible act of sacrifice. As the vampire sails to Wisborg aboard the doomed ship Empusa, plague and madness follow in his wake. The town descends into fear, and only Ellen’s courage can halt the tide of darkness.

This adaptation reimagines Nosferatu not only in words, but also in song—each chapter accompanied by original music designed to evoke the eerie atmosphere of Murnau’s masterpiece. Blending gothic literature with cinematic soundscapes, the project preserves the haunting spirit of the silent era while transforming it into a new experience: part novel, part score, and wholly an ode to one of the greatest horror stories ever told.
