Sabine Baring‑Gould (1834–1924) was an English Anglican priest, antiquarian and scholar of folklore, who collected songs and legends and authored nearly 1,500 works; his studies spanned hagiography, fiction and mythology, and his investigation of the were‑wolf myth remains a landmark in supernatural lore.
