Robert Sterling Yard (1861–1945) was an American writer, editor, and prominent conservationist. After a successful journalism career, he became a key advocate for the National Park Service. Yard worked closely with Stephen Mather to promote public awareness of national parks and later founded the National Parks Association. His writings combined elegant prose with a fervent belief in nature’s role in national identity and democratic access.
