Preston L. Allen, raised in Boston and Miami, began telling stories as the eldest of five siblings. He won a State of Florida Individual Artist Fellowship in Fiction and the Sonja H. Stone Prize in Literature. Allen authored Churchboys and Other Sinners (2003), All or Nothing (2007), Jesus Boy (2010), Every Boy Should Have a Man (2013), and I Disappeared Them (2024). His short stories have appeared in various literary journals and anthologies. Allen’s work blends dark humor, transgression, and grace, with his novels compared to authors like Dostoyevsky, Bukowski, and Baldwin. He holds a BA in English and an MFA in creative writing, teaching writing in South Florida.
