Eliza Leslie, "Miss Leslie, of Philadelphia" as the title page of this edition names her, published Seventy-Five Receipts for Pastry, Cakes, and Sweetmeats; the edition reproduced here is dated 1832. In its preface she writes that the receipts are original and had been used by herself and many of her friends with uniform success, and that she set them down plainly enough for any reader to follow. The work is now in the public domain.
